چکیده

Background As the elderly population increases, cases of advanced gastric cancer (AGC) also increase. This study aims to investigate safety and utility curative gastrectomy, as well efficacy laparoscopic for these patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed surgical outcomes patients with cStage IB-III AGC who underwent distal gastrectomy (DG) D2 lymph node dissection in our institution. compared results between (>75 years) non-elderly (<75 years). further divided into 2 groups: those DG (LDG) open (ODG). Further, we groups. Results From January 2014 March 2019, 84 (52 32 patients). ASA was significantly higher patients; however, there no significant difference nor overall survival (OS) recurrence-free (RFS) Among 52 patients, 19 had LDG, whereas 33 ODG. The LDG group a shorter length hospital stay less amount blood loss. There RFS OS Conclusions Safety oncologic curability may be achieved AGC. safely performed ODG it is expected benefit them by achieving minimally invasive surgery.

BACKGROUND Laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) has been widely applied in patients with gastric cancer (GC). However, the safety and application value of LG in elderly patients with GC was still unclear. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of LG for elderly patients with GC using the meta-analysis. METHODS Studies comparing elderly patients and nonelderly patients who und...

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to investigate the age-specific prognostic factors in patients who underwent gastrectomy for gastric cancer. METHODS The medical records of 366 patients with gastric cancer who underwent surgical resection at our hospital between January 2007 and December 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. Of the 366 patients, 117 were aged 75 years or older and 24...

Feasibility of laparoscopic gastrectomy for elderly gastric cancer patients: meta-analysis of non-randomized controlled studies

The aim of this meta-analysis was to determine the feasibility of laparoscopic gastrectomy (LG) for elderly gastric cancer patients by comparing laparoscopic and conventional open gastrectomies (OG). Comprehensive search of the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases revealed nine non-randomized controlled studies that compared LG and OG in elderly gastric cancer patients We then analyze...

Distal gastrectomy versus total gastrectomy for distal gastric cancer

Even though more than a century later, after the first case of gastrectomy has been successfully performed, the best surgical treatment for distal gastric cancer still remains controversial. Thus, the present study was designed to compare the survival impact of distal (DG) or total gastrectomy (TG) for distal gastric cancer. A total of 1262 distal gastric cancer patients were enrolled in curren...
